God's Summer Magic

My "sources" tell me that the Sweet Betsy bush blooms only in early May and that by mid-June, all its blossoms are gone. . .so, imagine my sister's surprise when she found this little baby still "showing off" in mid-July.

If anyone knows where the Sweet Betsy got its name, we'd love to know.

Make it a great Thursday. Just one more day until the weekend!

Peace and Blessings,
Dot

p.s. - I must be getting old, because this "Sweet Betsy" sure looks like an apple tree to me. . .

Good Morning, Mocha:

You are not getting old. Like most of us, we look at the big picture and fail to see the small things in life. The very tiny red blossom on a small shrub, next to the big apple tree is the single "sweet betsy" blossom. In early spring, it is covered w/small red, very, very fragrant blossoms. However, this year, for the first time, a very late SINGLE blossom has decided it would rather hang out w/the apples on the big tree in mid-summer.

Commonly known as the Carolina Sweet Bush, however, the common folks of the "Carolina Neck" call it "Sweet Betsy". The parent bush of the plant in the picture was planted more than 100 years ago.

Have a wonderful day and let us all remember to savor the small nuggets of pleasure.

Love Ya!
